Productivity Hacks and Habit Stacking
Because I unfortunately always need to be doing five things at once :)
I know that the title of this newsletter sounds like the perfect candidate for ADHD medication (and trust me, I am AWARE that I should be dealing with that).
HOWEVER, as I have gotten older I have found that the little productivity tricks that I have created for myself have kept my days marginally more organized and honestly, that is all I can ask for.
Being flung into adulthood is no joke. I feel like I have spent my 20’s struggling to stay on top of everything (why do we have to vacuum so much?? like no one told me about that??).
Between work, exercising, being social, keeping a clean house, taking time to decompress, and remembering to text people back- it feels like I am constantly in fight or flight. And I know I am not alone on this.
So I took to my Instagram stories this week and asked my followers what their favorite productivity hacks/habit stacks are. I gave some of my own examples such as:
Clean Penny’s (my cat) water bowl while my coffee brews
Reply to my social media comments while I am on the treadmill
(Just to name a few).
I asked for people to share their favorite habit stacks and got an OVERWHELMING response. I also got a ton of requests to share peoples answers so I choose the ones that I found the most helpful and compiled them into a list (just in case you are also plagued by the need to keep up with your life).
Sixteen Easy Habit Stacks:
Wipe down bathroom sink/ vanity while the shower heats up.
Call a friend or watch TV while folding laundry.
Do one admin task (pay a bill, make a doctors appointment, fill up your monthly Nuuly order) while water boils.
Teeth whitening during an everything shower.
Swish mouthwash while making your bed in the morning.
Wash the dishes while dinner is in the oven.
Clean your counters while food is cooking in the air fryer/microwave.
Listen to audiobooks while doing chores.
Flossing and brushing your teeth in the shower while your conditioner sits.
Reading on the treadmill.
Call your friends/parents while driving places.
Throwing a hair mask in while you are running errands.
Put laundry in and make a small to-do list to complete during the cycle.
Squats/lunges while brushing your teeth (lol).
Catching up on your weekly podcasts while going on a walk.
Getting dressed while your skin care soaks in before doing your make up.
Now, let’s be clear; I am not saying that you need to do ALL of these things. But if these tiny tricks buy back some of your time during the day, it makes all the difference! I love a habit stack and I don’t care if that makes me a toxic productivity girly!! Okay??
Anyways, I hope you guys found this helpful and didn’t feel like I was pressuring you to grow a second set of hands to get more things done throughout your days. If you have any other productivity hacks, comment them below or send me a DM.
We will be back next week and as always, have the best weekend of your life! Love ya!!
wait this is brilliant
